BUILT ON EXPERIENCE. DRIVEN BY AMBITION.

Pile Group was founded on a lifetime of experience in groundworks, civil engineering and construction — but its story began long before the company itself.

For founder and Managing Director Dominic Pile BSc (Hons), groundworks has always been part of life. Growing up with a father who worked — and continues to work — as a groundworker, Dominic spent weekends and school holidays around construction sites, gaining an early understanding of the industry, its people and the hard work behind every successful project.

After leaving college, Dominic followed that same path, working for a number of local groundworks contractors. It was during these early years on site that his ambitions began to grow. Determined to develop his career beyond the tools and gain a greater understanding of the commercial and management side of construction, he made the decision to return to education and study Quantity Surveying at the University of Central Lancashire, graduating in 2017.

In 2016, Dominic joined Murphy within its North West rail business as a Commercial Assistant. This marked the beginning of his professional commercial career and provided invaluable experience within a major Tier 1 engineering and infrastructure contractor. Over the following years, he developed a strong understanding of commercial management, project delivery, contractual relationships and the systems and standards required to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects.

After almost eight years with Murphy, Dominic left in December 2023 to join his brother's groundworks business, BP Groundworks, as Commercial Manager.

Over the following two years, the brothers worked together to transform what had been a small local groundworks contractor into a professional, multi-million-pound civil engineering business operating nationwide and delivering projects across multiple sectors.

By the end of 2026, Dominic believed the time was right to take the next step.

PILE | GROUP was formed.

Built upon generations of groundworks heritage and experience gained across both Tier 1 contracting and ambitious SME environments, Pile Group brings together the best of both worlds: the systems, commercial discipline and professional standards expected of a major contractor, combined with the agility, accountability and personal approach of an independently owned business.

Today, Pile Group is being built as a nationwide groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, operating across multiple sectors and focused on developing long-term relationships with clients, suppliers and delivery partners.

Our ambition is not simply to build another groundworks company.

It is to build a business capable of growing with its clients, developing its people and delivering increasingly complex projects while retaining the family values and work ethic upon which it was founded.
